DIY CON Dallas Unites HGTV Stars and The Home Depot to Expand Home Improvement Access

DALLAS, October 20, 2026 — The inaugural DIY CON arrives November 6-8, 2026, bringing together HGTV stars, The Home Depot as the retail partner for DIY CON, top DIY creators, woodworking experts, home improvement innovators, makers, and creative entrepreneurs for three days of inspiration, education, hands-on learning, and unforgettable experiences. This event marks a strategic shift in how homeowners access professional-grade design knowledge by merging television celebrity influence with established retail training infrastructure.

The Rise of the DIY Convention Model

For decades, The Home Depot Workshops have helped homeowners and DIYers develop the skills, confidence, and know-how to tackle everything from home repairs and renovations to woodworking projects, organization solutions, seasonal décor, and custom builds. Now, for the first time, that trusted workshop experience is coming to DIY CON. As the official retail partner of DIY CON, The Home Depot will present a series of interactive workshops featuring Home Depot Customer Training Managers alongside some of today’s most influential DIY creators. These hands-on sessions will give attendees an opportunity to learn practical home improvement techniques, discover innovative tools and products, build take-home projects, and gain real-world advice directly from industry professionals.

Bridging the Gap Between Television and Practice

The vast majority of HGTV stars love interacting with fans, a dynamic that translates directly to this Dallas gathering. During a recent taping of “My Lottery Dream Home,” one excited fan even accidentally ruined a taping session to greet David Bromstad. Now, three HGTV personalities are headed to Dallas for an exciting meet-and-greet session with viewers. DIY Con kicks off in just a few weeks, and these designers can’t wait to attend. “Seeing Ty Pennington, Mika Kleinschmidt, and Brian Kleinschmidt together just made us even more excited for DIY CON,” the DIY Con Instagram page teased in a new update.

The Home Depot’s Educational Infrastructure

“Hey guys, Ty here,” Pennington begins the video. “Just wanted to give you a little update. I’m going to be coming to DIY Con and it’s going to be amazing there in Dallas, Texas and I’m going to be interviewing some really amazing people, and here they are.” The trio will host a main stage session to answer audience questions, covering topics ranging from home renovation and woodworking to organization and entrepreneurship. From smart storage solutions and workshop organization to personalized woodworking projects and holiday decorating inspiration, attendees will leave with actionable skills they can immediately apply at home. Each workshop is designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and demonstrate that with the right tools and guidance, anyone can tackle their next DIY project.

Future Trends in Accessible Home Improvement

Homeowners looking to refresh their kitchens and bathrooms before holiday guests arrive can make a big impact without a full renovation, HGTV personality Carter Oosterhouse says. Oosterhouse shared three budget-friendly home improvement ideas during a segment that aired Oct. 5 in recognition of National Kitchen & Bath Month. The projects focus on simple upgrades that can improve the look and function of high-traffic spaces without the cost and disruption of major construction. Oosterhouse’s recommendations include improving drinking water quality, choosing the right sealants and adding character with reclaimed wood. For kitchens, Oosterhouse highlighted the Waterdrop X16 reverse osmosis system, which fits under a sink and provides filtered drinking water for families and guests.

What Attendees Can Expect

“And we’re coming to the first-ever DIY Con November 6-8 at Fair Park,” Mika excitedly chimed in. “We cannot wait to meet all of you,” Brian added. “We’re actually going to be on the main stage with our buddy, Ty Pennington, answering all the questions you may have. November 6!” There’s even VIP tickets available for some meet and greet and a little photo session. The convention aims to help homeowners build confidence in tackling their own projects. Beyond television, Oosterhouse founded Carter’s Kids, a nonprofit organization that builds playgrounds in low-income communities.
